Protecting the Spirit of Linden Hills

Save Linden Hills is committed to safeguarding the charm and heritage of our neighborhood. We are residents opposed to speculative property development, advocating for sustainable growth, and championing voices of those silenced in the pursuit of profit.

What we stand for:

Sustainable Development

We welcome thoughtful and sustainable development that enhances our community, but we firmly believe it must not come at the expense of existing residents’ well-being. Development decisions should be guided by current, accurate impact studies that reflect today’s realities—not outdated data from over 60 years ago.

Suitable Infrastructure Planning

Infrastructure planning that relies on outdated grandfathered exemptions fails to meet the needs of our evolving community. The area has grown and changed dramatically, with businesses like GetGo, 7-11, and Comfort Inn relying heavily on Linden Ave and Hoke Pl. for access to their businesses. As the neighborhood was first planned in the 1920’s and primarily built in the 1940 and early 1950’s, it lacks the infrastructure to serve residents and visitors. It is unacceptable to ignore current demands and realities by clinging to exemptions from decades past. We must prioritize responsible, forward-thinking planning that reflects the area’s transformation and ensures a thriving environment for everyone.

Traffic Impact

The absence of a traffic impact study for Linden Avenue is a critical failure that compounds an already dire situation. The daily influx of vehicles generated by the county office building and its parking lot has pushed the street to its limits. Now, the proposed development, combined with the planned widening of Routes 15 and 40, threatens to plunge the area into years of traffic gridlock and infrastructural chaos. These extensive road projects combined with the potential for 150-300 new cars from the last street before the interchange, will significantly disrupt traffic flow, creating prolonged congestion, delays, and safety concerns. Businesses like GetGo, 7-11, and Comfort Inn, as well as residents, will bear the brunt of these impacts, with no clear plan in place to mitigate the long-term repercussions. This crisis demands immediate attention and comprehensive planning to avoid irreversible harm to our community’s well-being and future.
